eFTI: the new cornerstone of European transport
The majority of logistics processes are still paper-based, which is both inefficient and error-prone, with only 1% of freight transport operations in the EU fully paperless. To upgrade and modernize the logistics sector by making digital freight information mandatory for member states, the European Union has introduced eFTI (electronic Freight Transport Information), a regulation designed to standardize and digitize freight transport information.
IN Groupe contributes to the eFTI4EU consortium, under which, in close collaboration with the French Ministry of Transport (Direction Générale des Infrastructures de Transport et Mobilité - DGITM), IN Groupe is developing the “eFTI Gate” national platform with the other member countries of the consortium.

The future of freight transport
The electronic Freight Transport Information Regulation was designed to:
- Standardize and digitize freight transport information.
- Harmonize procedures through a common standard for transport information
- Simplify exchanges between different countries and companies.

Obligation to comply by June 2027
The eFTI regulation is expected to be fully applicable during the second half of 2027. Therefore, all EU Member States are required to have aligned systems to accept electronic freight information presented by economic operators:
- EU member states’ authorities will have the obligation to accept eFTI data
- Economic operators (cargo owners, freight forwarders, carriers) have the option to voluntarily participate

French eFTI Gate - Made by IN Groupe
IN Groupe contributes to the eFTI4EU consortium, under which, in close collaboration with the French Ministry of Transport (Direction Générale des Infrastructures de Transport et Mobilité - DGITM), IN Groupe is developing the “eFTI Gate” national platform with the other member countries of the consortium.
This eFTI Gate will be the French access point for freight transport data, enabling the competent authorities to verify transport compliance, within the framework of the European eFTI (Electronic Freight Transport Information) regulation, which will come into force at the end of 2026.
